Started listening to “All Better Now” by Neal Shusterman this week. It was a free educator book on @libro.fm last month. I like the pacing so far given it’s a 14 hour book. I’m about 3 hours in.

My February @thestorygraph.com cover collage of books I read or listened to. More than January. My commute helps with the audiobooks.

Just got this book in, “Drawn Onward” by Daniel Nayeri and illustrated by Matt Rockefeller. Wow, what a gorgeous book and tender story. I love the palindrome storytelling. Not sure why my heart needed this today, but it sure did.

I love that these were with the Valentine’s cakes at one of our local grocery stores. H-E-B is huge in Texas, if that helps folks outside of the state. Of course, my kid still wanted the heart-shaped cake that said “Bite Me.”

Sometimes we don’t know the impact we have on students. Receiving this today helps fuel what I do. So grateful for these words that provided some affirmation. ❤️

The mini screaming goat has come in handy today when I’ve gotten on social media. I got it as a joke for my child as a stocking stuffer. It has more uses than I intended.

Post winter break book return. Let students check out extras & now they start coming back. Gonna keep us busy a little bit. Book cart loaded on both sides and onto the floor. 😅

We’ve been able to put a lot of our graphic novels in bins for easier finding and shelving. I like empty bins bc it means the books are moving. I love these bins for the visual appeal. We’ve also used them in nonfiction to group books together & seen circulation for those go up.

Added another picture book centering disabilities in affirming visuals and language. Love building our #inclusive collection to reflect our diverse world.

This bird is me. 😅

I love this story for the kids who prefer quiet & can be social. Being alone doesn’t mean being lonely. I also like how the other birds come to appreciate Only’s quiet activities in addition to their noisy activities.

I love when a new shipment of books come in & I get to go through them all. This one is blowing my mind and the few kids I’ve been able to show so far. Cannot wait to use it as a read aloud.

I texted my child that the new Witchlings book by @claribelortega.bsky.social arrived today. Her response is the all caps 12 yr old version of “yes.” 😅 She LOVES this series.

My reading for July slowed down. I had to abandon one graphic novel because the print was just too tiny for me to read it with ease. I’m waiting on the audiobook instead. Hoping to finish a few more before the busy-ness of school starts up at the end of next week.

Just picked these up from the public library today. I still have books from my school library to read, but these will move to the top of my reading stack. 📚

I’m trying different ways to track my reading. I’m using @thestorygraph.com this year. I like the monthly collage feature they just added. Here’s my June reads/listens. Most are graphic novels, which I do love.

I borrowed the new graphic novel “Summer Vamp” by Violet Chan Karim. I adore this book! The story is great and the characters are likable. I loved it. If I had to pick a fave character, it would be Nico. She reminds me of my kid, minus the vampire thing. 😅

Okay, so I’m 7 chapters into “The Cursed Moon” by Angela Cervantes, and I’m legit scared for Rafa and Brie. Also, as a late 40s person, I can admit that I’m a teeny bit apprehensive about reading at bedtime. 😨
