The Title Page of the Agents Guide. The title of the book is THE STOLEN IDOL by Christopher Lee. It is a 86K word YA Fantasy. The Pitch: Winning a jousting tournament should be easy for a centaur, and it is, until the false horse head falls off Fotini’s shoddy disguise. She quickly steals the tournament prize, a golden idol, and gallops toward the forest ripping off her heavy jousting armor to outrun the tournament guards. When she arrives home to fulfill her contract, she discovers she accidentally ditched the idol with her disguise. Along with two fellow thieves, she retraces her steps praying the idol is still there. Hopefully it wasn’t cracked, or worse, found by a disgusting human. Seventeen-year-old Jaimie Whitfield is accused of being a fae changeling, a creature who kidnaps children and assumes their form. If he does not escape, he will be executed for impersonating himself. His father will then invade the fae kingdom to rescue a son who hasn’t actually been kidnapped, all because he saw Jaimie kiss another young man and would rather believe his son has been kidnapped than accept his sexuality. As he awaits his demise, Jaimie turns to the broken idol he found by the roadside with a quiet prayer. He doesn’t expect an answer, but is shocked when a mysterious black cat slips through his high tower window. Jaimie joins the shapeshifting cat known as the Cat Sí and the not fully human trio of thieves who dropped the idol to begin with. These outcasts race to warn the fae of the coming invasion. Along the way, Jaimie and his new friends learn long-forgotten secrets of how the Irish fae, the Cat Sí, and the Celtic gods are involved in an ancient feud with pantheons across the sea. “Your Majesty,” Tragos said as he bowed. “Unfortunately, a splinter from Sir Aberffraw’s lance has gotten lodged in the stirrups and Sir Capall is unable to disentangle himself at present. I ask that we may accept the prize on horseback, and we will sort out our predicament in private.” The King was unphased but would not be denied. “Nonsense. I am sure Capall will be able to come down from his horse if we just undo this strap here.” Before either Tragos or Fotini could react, the King pulled hard on the newly exposed rope at the base of the horse’s neck. Fotini’s disguise unraveled, and the horse’s head and neck dislodged from her body and fell to the ground with a thud and puff of white flour. Fotini could suddenly feel the breeze on her exposed lower torso where her chestnut fur faded away to her hairless human navel. There was no hiding what she was now. The King stepped back in surprise and horror. After a moment of shock he yelled, “a centaur!?!”

The Cat Si remembered what life was like in England before Fotini arrived in Coille Sealgair. So far away from those who kept to the old traditions, the Cat Si faded away as the Children of Pan forgot why they came to this island so far from Greece and Rome. They could no longer recall why she protected them from the humans surrounding the forest or even just one of her many names. With no one to speak them, she forgot as well. They called her the Cat Si, the cat witch, so that was who she became. She skulked through the streets of Coille Sealgair hunting mice and drinking milk left out by the people who told stories about her as a guardian of the forest. The stories were enough to keep her going, to give her enough power to stay tethered to this world, but she was but a shadow of what she felt she once was. She was a witch and a rumor, nothing more. Then Fotini came. She would never forget the first night she heard Fotini’s voice in her mind. The sound was small, nearly indistinguishable from the sounds of the village. The Cat Si thought it was just another pannite talking to a friend on the street below, but then she heard a name she hadn’t heard for a millennium. A powerful name. Her name, or at least one of her many names. Not the title of a nameless witch, but a name with power and tradition. Memories and power surged through her for a brief moment reminding her of what she had lost.

THE STOLEN IDOL is a fun action adventure mixing various mythologies following a diverse cast of outcasts as they try to save the fae in 11th century Ireland.

Jaimie must stop his delusional father, along with the man he loves, from eradicating the fae. He joins a trio of mythological thieves and the shapeshifting Cat Si to save the fairies, but they find themselves standing between feuding pantheons in the process.
