Science Librarian. Fond of Classics, Archaeology, Paleontology, Comics, and of course Library Stuff. Queer.
So often online resources and systems are perceived as magical cure-all for understaffed and over-stretched units, but if you don't actually monitor and maintain them, and *provide your staff with the time and resources to do so*, they're just useless clutter.

You will also learn pretty fast that reporting these sorts of errors generally accomplishes nothing. Not because of resistance or denial or or anything, but because, I have to assume, no one is actually in charge of monitoring or maintaining the course/class/learning object.

Yup. And the price of renting contributes to that, because people have to move regularly to be able to afford to live; they don't get the same chance to BECOME part of the community that a homeowner like Janet in your example does.

Like watching the amount of whining and complaining in the local news about a sewer rate increase that was labelled "unsustainable" for an amount that was an ANNUAL increase that was less than my MONTHLY increases for **multiple years** running made me feel like I was the fucking twilight zone.

When I was renting and I complained about renting, 90% of homeowners in my life told me I just didn't understand how ~hard~ homeownership was and how much more expensive it was than renting.
I suspected that was BS.
Now I've been a homeowner for a while and I KNOW it's BS. Renting sucks.

I remember when my sister moved to the UK and discovered this fact - we had a whole conversation about sort of... the remnants of Empire and how it is perceived at the centre of what used to the be Empire vs. how it is perceived in the places that used to be colonies.
