Does she think social emotional learning is woke? Our preschools probably didnt give report cards when I was growing up but the teachers definitely would have told my parents if they had concerns about my social emotional development.

I don’t believe that 40% statistic (“up to” is doing a lot of work!) but if true that would suggest to me that the government should invest some money in teaching people how to obtain preventive care to improve health outcomes and reduce long-term, society-wide costs.

I can imagine it, and I can empathize, but I can also rational brain remind myself (and explain to my constituents) that SNAP benefits and paychecks today doesn’t guarantee that SNAP and paychecks will be there in 6 months (nm ACA subsidies).

There would be a lot more jury nullification if prosecutors didn’t exercise prosecutorial discretion to not bring stupid cases. This was always a stupid case. Laws are written broadly and maybe there was a technical violation but zooming out this does not look or feel like criminal conduct.
