the house in the cerulean sea is a found family type story but i really enjoyed reading about the main character's pov and how they don't really feel like they have a place to belong at the start. it's got magical creatures in it and a really good soundtrack they listen to in-story as well :)

Between two fires by christopher buehlman was a cool read for me this year! its medieval horror and the descriptions can get kinda gnarly. loved it though
