Might not because how they’ve pulled these fixtures forward. The possibility as I mentioned last night Newcastle v Palace could still be played in GW29 & then likelihood of the gw34 blanks coming forward to 33 instead of 36. If Newcastle or palace get to QF could end up with just 1 double 36 too

Decision hasn’t been made yet as it’s reliant on outcome of 2 teams not progressing to a certain stage of cup. But keeping it within the GW if both teams don’t reach that round has been mentioned. Could land in 29 or 33. They could just decide as you say not to put any game that weekend though

It’s what has been discussed as an option as I was discussing with Talha last week. The other 3 games being TV scheduled meant limited opportunities to slot them in. All teams landing in top 8 Europe created that gap. Aim is always to try play games within scheduled GW where possible.

As stands they don’t currently blank gw29. Their game wasn’t scheduled with the others to move forward because it’s still possible they play within the original gw. If both Newcastle/palace don’t make FA QF then they could potentially play that FA QF weekend which would still fall within gw29

But it’ll will take time and tweaks for him to get the right balance of how he sees the game but in this new system for player positions, profiles and where he wants them on/off the ball. Very clever young manager & married with a club who’ll rightly show patience as he looks to evolve

I think Hurzeler changing system from his tried & tested is actually why we see inconsistency just now. He spent time building his philosophy/style with that system which ultimately got him the job. He’s now decided to change system while he will still behind that have the same philosophy in mind.

Yeah completely agree. The amount of fouls you see given outside of the box. Yet same thing or worse happens in the box and a blind eye is turned. A foul should be a foul regardless. Consistency really is the key word that the officiating lacks. As fans that’s all anyone wants

There is far too much grey area. The rules should be pretty black & white and in turn there shouldn’t really be scope for interpretation from VAR that way. VAR shouldn’t get decisions wrong
January 4, 2025 at 12:53 PM
I don’t think they’d give a penalty either due to arm positioning. Whether I agree with it or not. We also know that again ridiculously they don’t treat incidents outside the box the same as inside the box. Something I think is mental. If it’s a foul it should be same anywhere. Rules are a mess
January 4, 2025 at 12:53 PM
I go with he won’t. Decision correct to directives unfortunately. Arm in natural position, doesn’t directly lead to goal as it lands at a player who then sets up the goal. Don’t like it & anyone with eyes thinks it shouldn’t stand. But that’s the way they are ruling these. Been a mess for a while🤦🏼‍♂️

Yeah I much rather good interactions on threads than bots, unwanted ads and tweets and the cesspit environment. Couldn’t care about followers. No point having 50k if only 20 interact. I’d take 50 good followers over 50k. Quality over quantity.

Schar being suspended basically leaves it as Botman risked or Kelly at CB. Neither ideal with both CBs going to be left footers
January 3, 2025 at 3:01 PM
So many see the followers number as an achievement and think it correlates to reach/engagement and don’t won’t to give it up. Reality is a lot of it is false with dead accounts, bots etc.

They don’t realise it’s about quality of followers/engagement. Which many are getting more of here with less

Yeah I agree with no uncertainty. Nkunku is class but everyone knows he’s not a striker. Inability to hold up or press effectively kills them from the front. His best role is shadow striker or off the left. Unless Chelsea buy an actual striker back up(Guiu too inexperienced) then it’s Jackson’s spot
January 3, 2025 at 9:45 AM
However @chelseasmash.bsky.social pointed out that both Sanchez & Jackson were both in 4YC going into ipswich(last game before reset) & both benched. Don’t think that’s a coincidence. Don’t think the plan was for Jackson to come on but Maresca wildly underestimated that game with poor selection
January 3, 2025 at 9:41 AM
I posted about it after the Fulham defeat. Jackson is pivotal to their patterns of play & hold up of ball. He also is a key presser something Nkunku isn’t great at. Jackson sub v Fulham was the moment the momentum swung in that game. I was shocked Maresca would then not start him v Ipswich.

One has 0.53npxG per 90. The other has 0.32npxG per 90 and even with pens just 0.42xG per 90 👀

Chelsea weren’t that effective as expected. Crazy changes and rightfully punished for it
