like, murder mysteries are fun, but super hard to write when you're dumb as bricks

meanwhile 12 steps has a clear group of murderers, a (mostly) clear reason why they are doing a murder, and a group of characters who know both these things and are trying to stop the plan from succeeding

for the ogs in the audience: 12 steps is what lucid dreams originally was! and might be again, since the setting of 12 steps is simpler than the setting of lucid dreams

- tabletop characters (self-explanatory)
- dollhouse characters (my cot playthrough, except it's also my dol playthrough and some of my own bullshit)
- 12 steps characters (original setting, but it's based on that arthur horror arg. and also a bit of my sims 4 playthough where aging is turned off)

only thing that's stopping girls' abyss from being a flat out au of our phantasm is how magic works

in girls' abyss most tech is at least plausible, and it was only 10 years before the plot when an advanced alien/god/whatever gifted humans magic

meanwhile in our phantasm magic was always A Thing

this change thus makes the "girls' abyss" oc setting almost a pseudo-au for our phantasm

since both settings involve game-changing but unstable tech that's tested out through unsavory means before being released for the public
