Irony was dead long before 2016. You would think society's most socialized service would have a lot less selfish Republicans running it. At least when it counts, they do help their fellow citizen. Banner Photo by Seth Granville
My prediction on the second Trump term was that they would be aggressive but avoid family separation.

Boy was that wrong. I’ll not be surprised if we learn this was intentional.
Do you remember the horrific abduction in Worcester, MA where protestors clashed with ICE as they ripped a woman away from her family? The horror continues.

The woman’s 13 and 17 year old daughters were placed in foster care. They are now both missing. 1/

I feel like we are not thinking about insider trading enough.

For those few in the firefighting world who follow me. It’s worth checking out the Taylor’s Tins and Black Smoke Sticker drama (see respective Instagram accounts). I have an opinion I won’t give here, but definitely a moment of reflection.

A little over 48 hours into this presidency and plenty of GOP cohorts of mine have already heard “I told you so”, especially law enforcement. And they are listening.

This is where the democrats need to be pushing out changes to their platform. Time to engage while Monday is still on people’s minds

Really simple but effective idea. The best kind of ideas.
Interesting idea from @benwikler: He tells me that if he's chair, the Dem Party will actively empower/elevate a progressive media infrastructure, by getting Dem officials to feed it scoops and big interviews. This would go farther than what exists now. 4/

“AI will be like Skynet. I’m nervous.”

AI:
Asked Google AI whether Brian Thompson's killer had been caught. It said:

Yes, a murder suspect in the killing of Brian Thompson, the CEO of UnitedHealthcare, was captured after months on the run. The suspect fell through the ceiling and was taken into custody.

Generative Al is experimental.

lol my first organic block is someone trying to troll/trigger/whatever me about 9/11. I wish I understood who had the time and energy to either personally come after my account or write a bot that looks for a firefighter account.

Speaking of echo chambers. I wish there were more firefighters or just anyone in public safety in general here. I know the two hurdles are high amounts of cult-like political ideologies and general lack of awareness of emerging tech and related products. Then again, glad it’s not firefighter TikTok

Switching to the Skeets app to give it a shot. So far so good. Makes me miss the early days of Twitter with good third party clients like tweetbot and twitterific

ARE there any good breaking news accounts on Bluesky yet? The ones on the Xitter clearly had hard right bias because they considered “Biden closes his eyes at meeting” as important as a major tradgedy, natural disaster, etc.

Anyone else notice the Bluesky platform/protocol is significantly less buggy that any of the other platforms (even before fingers were put on scales)? Sure it has nothing to do with the constant logging, monitoring what you scroll through, etc. other social media does.
