Oh definitely! I've been doing beach picnics since I moved back (beach + sandwich combo supremacy), but I still yearn for some big shady trees and grass to lounge on. (Which does exists outside the city, and we do lots of day trips!) 🌳 🌊

Category is: people enjoying giant urban green spaces (Major's Hill Park, Ottawa). ☀️ 🌷

We did a lot of picnicking in Hamilton in their giant beautiful urban parks and we want to prioritize doing that in Halifax this summer!

The Magnolia Map has over 200 trees on it! Currently in bloom: white star magnolias and various hybrids. 🌸🌷➡️ www.google.com/maps/d/viewe...

Spotted on my run route which only has a sidewalk 50% of the time.

I would say yes to walking on ice and clear pavement (although that wears down the metal spikes faster over time). Easy enough to put on, but that probably varies based on your boot size since they stretch over the boot. They might come in small and large sizes?

I use crampons that I'm pretty sure I got from the Dollarama a few years ago!

But fun! Private businesses were able to keep their sidewalks clear. 🤔

I took the bus to a walk-in pharmacy clinic this morning because I didn't feel confident about driving conditions. Pedestrian/transit infrastructure was far worse than the main roads (classic). 🙃

I know Halifax needs a lot of things that should take precedence over this (rent control/housing, transit, bike infrastructure, etc), but I'd like to add a public greenhouse to the list, a la Hamilton's Gage Park or Toronto's Allan Gardens.

Haven't seen much other information than this, but there is a Take Back the Night March happening November 27!

What is the history OF TBTN in Halifax? I remember reading about ones in the 80s, but don't recall any in my (zillennial) time...

🌸 More magnolia shenanigans from me! I've mapped out 2 suggested walking routes for magnolia viewing, both in the south end! Using the map link, select which layers to view under "map legend." www.google.com/maps/d/u/2/e...

Went on a long, sunny magnolia search in the south end today.(Bonus: a free little library.) AAND, the map now has over 100 magnolia trees on it! Thanks Halifax. 🥹 www.google.com/maps/d/u/2/e...

Who/what should I follow to learn about NS native/wild plants? An example below of the kind of info I'm hoping for! #halisky #novascotia

A little squid survey at the Bedford waterfront. The email is cracking me up. (Also I had no idea you could fish for squid in the basin?!)🐙 #halisky
