From 2019 to 2024, countries have moved right (higher share, %) and up (more solar power, TWh), with the boom spanning small to large power markets.

The rapid growth means solar continued to be by far the fastest growing source of electricity of all time.

It took just 8 years to go from 100 TWh to 1000 TWh and then just 3 years to surpass 2000 TWh 🏆

NEW | UK solar generation smashes previous March record amid historically sunny weather ☀️🇬🇧

The latest @ember-energy.org data shows that solar generation in 2025 was 59% higher than in March 2024.

Acc. to the met office, March 2025 had the third-highest sunshine hours since records began in 1910
