I had loads of fun today, sharing thoughts and projects during a joint lab-meeting with @nadinedijkstra.bsky.social's Imagine Reality Lab. Two hours were way too short to discuss all the cool projects!

Thanks everyone for your contributions 💜

Preparing overt eye movements and directing covert attention are neurally coupled. Yet, this coupling breaks down at the single-cell level. What about populations of neurons?

We show: EEG decoding dissociates preparatory overt from covert attention at the population level:

Psilocybin, the active compound in magic mushrooms, alters perception and induces hallucinations. In this preprint, we show through visual illusions, fMRI and modeling that psilocybin affects contextual computations, a potentially general mechanism of psychedelics.

There is a fully funded PhD position at the Donders Institute (Netherlands) on the neuroscience of imagery and perception. I can really recommend working with @peelen.bsky.social (I did a 4y postdoc there). He is one of those annoyingly smart and dedicated researchers, and is real fun to work with!
