I'm grateful to my co-investigators for the project, Jonathan Bush and Cormac Begadon, for helping shape such a productive and thoughtprovoking event. (2/2)

Attended a lovely gathering of local Catholics, Christians and non-religious at St Mary's Cathedral in Newcastle at lunchtime for a Requiem Mass for Pope Francis. The strong turnout shows the appeal the late pope had across the spectrum of belief and non-belief #popefrancis

A quote from Pope Francis' autobiography that has become sadly relevant today. Even in death Pope Francis will continue on the humility that has defined him #holyfather #popefrancis

Reading more about the New Norcia Benedictine mission and the general dominance of the Benedictines over the early Catholic mission in Australia. Such dominance explains the delayed arrival of other religious orders like the Jesuits and Capuchins in significant numbers. #skystorians #catholichistory

Exploring the impact of Bishop Elzear Torreggiani OFM Cap in Australia. The friar had spent decades ministering in England and Wales before his nomination to Armidale, NSW in 1879. He was instrumental in supporting Saint Mary MacKillop and the Sisters of St Joseph of the Sacred Heart. #skystorians
