#Spitalfields Market, East #London originated in a field next to the 12th-century St Mary Spittel priory, gaining a royal charter in 1682 to operate on Thursdays and Saturdays. Here it is in the 1930’s. Today it is for the tourists.

A painting of Primrose Cottage (1903) at the Milton sea Lock, Eastney, #Portsmouth. The canal was shut down and filled in many moons ago though the sea lock remains. This #painting was my raffle prize at my talk on art with the Portsmouth Urban Sketchers Group.

It is great to be a part of the Wells Art Contemporary Exhibition this year. I and 49 other artists have designed skateboard decks which will be showing.

2025 show will be open every day between 8 October and 1 November 2025

The Cathedral is open from 9am to 4.30pm seven days a week. Come along!

I cycled a couple of miles up the road to the local village of Pylle, #Somerset. Whilst there I produced this small oil #painting of the village #church dedicated to St Thomas à Becket. This church featured in the John Le Carre book, A Murder of Quality.

Here is a detail of the street from yesterdays post of Denmark Street, #London. The painting is over a meter tall so it's not so easy to see the details and all the folks scuttling about.

Blast from the past: In this video I am visting Dittisham in Devon. It is situated near the mouth of the River Dart , a fine ancient fishing port and real treat for painter and tourist alike. Enjoy.

Columbia Road Flower Market goes back to 1869. It served the old local French Huguenot population who were keen on cut flowers, they were also keen on caged song birds too, and one of the streets pubs is still called ‘The Birdcage’ as an echo of this time.
