"The party that leans upon the workers but serves the bourgeoisie, in the period of the greatest sharpening of the class struggle, cannot but sense the smells wafted from the waiting grave."
Leon Trotsky
"British journalist, Charles Moore, called Campbell “the most pointlessly combative person in human history”.

This tells you all you need to know about 'media training'. That's the difference in Ireland's new left & Connolly is the epitome of a new approach. The Yates story revealed the problem.

"Israeli president Yitzhak Herzog called the violence “shocking”, saying it “crosses a red line”.

No more shocking or unusual than the entire history of theft and violence by Zionist/Settler/European/Israelis against the indigenous Palestinian population since 1948.

Yes the sheer level of intolerance that extends to all things culturally Irish is proof of its illogical nature.

Of course, NI is the only part of the UK where one community has looked down on the other one in the region for several centuries. This sense of unionist superiority applies to Catholicism (and more recently to Islam), Irish traditional music, GAA games and the Irish language.

"Twenty years on and it is still fresh and stands out amid a torrent of mediocrity, career-oriented, dull as dishwater, safe, unimaginative music that dares to challenge for our crown."

Yes....the Guardian nails it...fucking really chimes with us ordinary people in the street.

"Can I have the beeefff burrrgerrr,"

A 'beefburger' is what a lot of Irish and British people call a hamburger - for reasons best known to themselves. In a lot of countries, if you say beefburger instead of hamburger - its correct name - the chances are you will be asked to repeat yourself.

I was guessing with a surname like Dwyer (Anglicised from Ó Duíbhir I think) you must have had Irish connections.

Two by-elections in the New Year, one in Dublin and one in Galway. A left coalition with agreed candidates can make these victories for left politics.

FG have made a few blunders this year, the presidential candidate choice being the worst so far. Their days in government are numbered.

Well you can qualify for affordable housing in as many ways as you can count, but your chances of ever getting it have been very slim and will continue to be by all accounts.
