NTSC VHS (T-120) was 2 hours. Lower-quality tape speeds could stuff in 2x or 3x the time, but only cheapskate makers did that for prerecorded stuff. (Much more common for home recordings.) There were also T-160 tapes, physically longer. (And T-60, T-30, and even shorter tapes for shorter content.)

It's incredible how much of the past is embedded in life. In our depictions of animals of course, but also in their very bodies and the preserved remains of their bodies. Natural history has all the richness and wonder of written history.

Great article. Fascinating how highly educated people--especially those with interdisciplinary interests--can get overcommitted to being novel. That often goes awry, but can rarely develop new insights.

As a layman the wet/dry ID flowcharts seem useful. Are these mundane, or Watson's invention?
