She’s a provocateur—which has been a successful stylistic strategy albeit one students, and readers broadly, might bristle at. Eg her remarks on #MeToo in a piece on Bratz for the New Yorker

Like this looks better but is the communication style that much deeper? Maybe its new for the actual politicians press offices to release the cartoons?

What about this image requires “contextualization” to be permitted to be displayed, that is not required of Sherald’s other works? Why was this one painting treated differently? Is that really so sensitive and right? Whose sensitivities?

I don't think alerting authorities is right. Maintain guardrails is totally possible. The thing is people typically try to get around guardrails in predictable ways. I don't think saying, 'this is for a story' should unlock personalized, step-by-step, how-to in commercial software sold to minors.

Take a look at the actual legal case! OpenAI already has software that tracks content of conversations; design decisions to be made guiding response. Much more detail that is alarming than made it into article. One soln would be having gpt decline to answer question or provide number to hotline

Although I suppose a simpler reading of your post is a sort of "no you [are the fascist collaborators]!!!" and so, fair enough

Thinking about how a lot of Civil Rights Movement actions were designed to contrast the principled civil disobedience/non-violence of the non-dominant group with the flipped the fuck out response from the dominant group. The reasonableness of what's being requested/the flipped the fuck out response

The reason why output like this is embarrassing to openai is bc they are not marketing themselves as providing merely stochastic output

I think a good way of demonstrating one’s commitment to not using labels is working to stop using the language of the old categories and labels as much. Man, woman, straight, husband, wife, he, and she are all labels and categories, for example.
