The classic fan theory is always the sort where you take one look at it and think "WTF..?", then you read the argument and you think, "Actually I'm at least 50% convinced you're right..."

I remember seeing each of those, in sequence, during each year of my undergrad. Yeah, it's been a while 🙃

Could be, could be ... I also noticed that the remaining lease for it is a bit short too

Anyway. I should stop procastinating and go and actually do some work, shouldn't I?

Reading the actual article, it turns out VHS 1256B is an L-T transition object, which both clarifies things and confuses others (TBH I wouldn't expect an L/T transition to look like Jupiter either - it's a notoriously-confused area!)

Case-in-point, I wouldn't expect a young/hot M-type brown dwarf to look like Jupiter! I'd expect it to look like, well, a red dwarf star, because that's what it (almost) is.

Honestly, even the fact of living on the same planet as it is a bit 😬 ... though, TBH, I suppose the Bolton Strid is a lot closer to me, geographically, so it's not like we don't have our own serving of hostile land-forms.

I never want to go anywhere near it.

I suppose the darkest-shade-of-humour banter-timeline outcome will be when Lord Protector Farage puts Starmer in front of a judge-only tribunal shortly after the State of Emergency Act passes in 2029, I suppose.
