I have been laughing about this for 2 days it's so funnyyy

Anyway I'm going to put like one (1) clown in the background of a single shot but I think I learned a lot about the visuals of the world in trying to figure out how the hell to design a clown in this universe

Red noses and Harlequin type makeup being modern elements that repeat across the different types, to make sure they feel coherently like Clowns

Jesters, while they may have a simpler look, lean more on the Medieval jester but are also primarily working for the upper classes, presenting a cartoonish idea of the uneducated poor - animalistic prosthetics, missing teeth, wearing rags etc.

Which takes us back to the types of clowns - entertainment made for different groups. The Buffoon works market squares and festivals, presenting a parody of the Rich. Overly covered in feathers, ruffled collars, wandering around in their bloated silhouettes.

To me, Clown Aesthetic is all about taking the familiar and turning it into a joke - and the familiar, in the context of this particular phase of Ankh-Morporkh is going to be Tudor/Elizabethan with hints of other elements

Ankh Morporkh is a tough place to define visually, but I went with Guards! Guards! taking place at the time when the city is still mostly English Renaissance with bits of Enlightenment and Victorian making their entrance into the landscape

Basically I have come to the conclusion that the city would have two primary type of clowns (three if you count the drag kings but that's another conversation). The Buffoon and the Jester.

So yeah I guess you could say I've got some issues with confrontation and clear communication maybe
