Being strategic and profoundly stupid/damaging aren’t mutually exclusive. What happens when the government shuts down again at the end of January, more Feds get cut, and tens of millions lose their healthcare?

And now the people who gave the Dems that resounding victory feel cheated. The timing is *spectacularly* damaging. Any Dems up for reelection at the midterms is in BIG trouble because no is buying that the 8 Dems that caved acted alone. The long term effects of this will be catastrophic.

The only real thing they “got,” which was already being fought in court, is SNAP. That’s good! But back pay for Feds is already law; nothing will stop them implementing future RIFs/firing of Feds; and the CR only goes through January. 🤷🏻‍♀️

You’re making an assumption that I don’t already do that 🤷🏻‍♀️

People are upset because 1) back pay is already law, regardless of the threat not to pay it; 2) if ACA subsidies is delusional, then what was the point of putting us through this?; 3) doesn’t bring back ALL fired Feds; & 4) doesn’t prevent future firings/re-firings.

So, why not cave 40 days ago?
