Everything happening in the US is breaking my heart. I knew they would come for NOAA eventually, but as a climate scientist, this one really hurts.
NOAA is an absolute mess, and it’ll be worse tomorrow. Please help us. There have already been over 1,000 terminations. It’s not just layoffs—Elon Musk and his staffers are trying to completely dismantle us. Today, there were tons of firings, and more are coming tomorrow.

I want to connect with people in #FemTech or #WomensHealth who use or want to use #Geospatial data. @geospatialwomen.bsky.social is planning our Int Women's Day event, and I think there could be some overlap here. Can open geospatial data be used to improve women's health? Let's talk!

When I first took on nuclear technology as a research project, I was stunned to see how many fusion startups were out there. Fusion always seemed impossibly far off to me, but several of those have now raised >$100M. See the @dechant.bsky.social story below for more.

"Do women’s environmental and care practices reflect their choice, or are they shaped by patriarchal constraints and limited economic opportunity? Do they have an affinity for nature or simply lack other options?"

BIG questions in @theconversation.com this week.

Women are seen as ‘saviours’ or ‘victims’ in climate change debates: why this is a problem
Simple either/or ways of seeing women overlook the power dynamics and structural factors that give rise to the stereotypes.
