I agree, it’s a pipe dream at this point. Polygamy is root of everything and it would require an entire reworking of the church, its structure, and doctrine to disavow it.

I mean, D&C is basically just church bureaucracy 🤷‍♀️

That would be awesome!

That also sounds fascinating.

Thank you so so much!

This is a great question. It feels like it just turned out that way but I wonder if you look at early to mid 20th century talks if you’d see it starting to pop up. New research rabbit hole to explore

I love how they’ve just conveniently renegotiated “new and everlasting covenant” to mean temple marriage instead of polygamy.

Absolutely. I keep tying my reviews back to tiktoks haha

I’ve never been very into Civil War history but taking a class on it is very eye opening.

Oh yes! Thats basically what I ended up arguing. There’s a great new book out called Lincoln’s Peace that we read breaking down the popular date of April 1865. Very long book but brings up some great points about the endurance of the civil war.

My dad gave a toast at my wedding luncheon and said how glad he was I found a husband who could calm me down. Jokes on him, my husband is also a raging feminist 😂

It’s weird too because how can we parse out meaning in life from meaning in Mormonism, if that makes sense? It seems a bit like a self fulfilling prophecy. If you’re living the Mormon standards of happiness, you are happy. If you aren’t, you are excluded from their standard of happiness regardless.

My other question is how are they defining purposelessness, negative actions, etc. I could definitely see a non religious person marking an answer that they didn’t see a purpose in life, for instance. But that doesn’t necessarily mean they are hopeless or unhappy. They could just see life different

Also I wonder about how they conducted these questions. As a “good Mormon girl” growing up I would never have said anything that might suggest to others that I was less than perfect or not perfectly good and happy at church.

Hmm those with depression are more likely to struggle with their faith? Are they sure they can rule out religion encouraging that depression? (LGBTQ kids, neurodivergent kids, etc especially)

I practiced on the airplane 😂 I made a signature with my initials. Glad I did because there’s a lot of books to sign!
