I maxed out my credit card, emptied my savings account, and took out a loan to move from Alabama to Bethesda, MD. I don’t even qualify for unemployment since I’ve only worked at NIH for a month. I will be financially and medically devastated.

Seeking suggestions for anywhere that’s hiring!!
Today, along with 2,000 other NIH employees, I had to clear out my office 😭

It was truly the honor of my life to work with such incredibly passionate people focused on improving human health. I’ve never experienced a more positive culture where *everyone* cared about their job and serving others.

Please tell me this is real. If so, it’s perfection.
Holy shit. Did you see the letter Olivia Troye’s attorney sent to Kash Patel after he threatened to sue her for defamation? Troye, a former Homeland Security advisor, had the BEST response.

Good article. The technology is better and we find more pathogens than we used to. But we get our food from lots of different places and in different packaging now too.
What’s Going on With All of These Food Recalls?
It might seem like there’s news about E. coli or listeria every week. Here’s what the data on food safety actually show.

Show off your pets. This is my dog, Stevie (like Stevie Nicks). We call her the Gold Dust Puppy. She’s a total sweetheart and really smart. She loves playing ball. She’s a mix of Australian Cattle Dog, German Shepherd, and Border Collie. Adopted from a county shelter almost 2 years ago.

Freddy Mercury died of AIDS 33 years ago today. With modern medical technology, he likely would have lived. Never forget how much progress against major infectious disease has been made in a short time. We are at risk now of rolling back much of that progress.
