Agree it’s not a supportive reason. But I do think that is different than saying they already have proven they are. If they do trade him it will be because they are. If they don’t, it would indicate they aren’t truly rebuilding. While not a reason, it is an indicator.

I don’t see how a mid 1st round pick is “very good” and how it nets a 1C in a trade. Their other 2 are even later. Even if they package all 3, what team would give them a 1C? You can’t both compete for a playoff spot and draft your way through a rebuild.

I’d remove TK from that list. It would be painful for sure, but he just doesn’t line up with the rebuild schedule - the way it’s going. Which is hardly at all.
