Palladium Books has been publishing games that only require one book to play since 1981. I first picked up Rifts in 1997 with just one book. It's still my favorite. And guess what, you can use all the ideas you like from D&D because in Rifts, anything is possible. Robots, dinosaurs, ninjas, wizards!

Sometimes they just will not walk away until they hear about another monster to slay.

I know it's 40K, but that guy would make an awesome Rifts character.
