I've only ever had to file one claim with them and the other driver was at fault so they've never given me a single penny back but otherwise it's at least not expensive for two adults with old cars.

For sure model/ hobby acrylics are useful because the pigment is generally pretty fine and the consistency is designed for folks painting small. I have lots of opinions about various brands lol

Seconded wet palettes (can be made with a tupperware, paper towel, and unwaxed parchment to test).
A brush with a big belly and fine tip is superior to a small brush because it can hold more liquid to keep the paint flowing. Princeton Velvettouch are my recommendation for synthetic brushes.
