It diminishes nothing to honor the whole experience. It's a testament to the ferocity of maternal love. Preparing for battle. The Coming Storm. A love so strong that it walks through the valley where the two worlds meet. Mothers are warriors.

Pregnancy can be joy, pure bliss, excitement, relief, serenity. It can also be exhaustion, fear, anger, pain, discomfort, claustrophobia, complications, feeling alone. And all of those things somehow live together, take up the same space, weave together and war against one another.

To me, the truth about pregnancy is the same truth I've wrestled with my whole life. Two seemingly opposing ranges of emotion and experience that somehow coexist. The paradox of life that we meet over and over again in different chapters.
