It’s hard to believe #OffKaiGen4 was a week ago! I’m still stunned from the cosplay contest and just have a nice feeling of validation in my craft. I look at this photo and I just want to stare my sleeve for days (and shamelessly have been). I’m excited to progress this build further.

Update: I won BEST IN SHOW!! Bettel’s max luck rubbing off on me and I am still just floored. I worked so hard to make this a clean and tailored finish and I am excited to build the rest.

#OffKaiExpoGen4 is this week~! I'm happy to say that Gavis Bettel 1.0 is in a state that it is ready to be seen and shown off at the cosplay contest this weekend! Here is my cosplay lineup for the con. I'll have ribbon freebies as well~

I had to remake the choker bc of issues with the first one. Happy with the updated version it’s going to look awesome. Spent the evening with the wig sewing in the remaining wefts and starting the styling and it looks pretty decent!

Did some hand sewing yesterday to piece the scarf together and add snaps to my cummerbund for the resin studs I made. Also mad the forbidden soup to dye some periwinkle wefts I had on hand a bit more blue to save my butt when it comes to the wig.

I think I have a solution. It’s going to be fine…I hope. In the meantime I spent all day on this bow for the scarf. I need to work out the tail for it but taking a little break to stretch my legs for now.

Parallel pathing making the boot covers and this is my first time on my own with that. Aiming to finish early this weekend so I can turn focus to wig styling.

And I’ve made a silicone mold to resin cast these faceted rhombus shapes in. Took 3 tries but got to a reasonable result. Making 8-10 (good to have some extras just in case)

It’s truly crunch time with the ramp up to OffKai! I have done…a lot. Shorts are done but so is the making of the cumberbund with tails.

Taping up and cutting out patterns is progress right? The goal is to get the construction on shorts done by mid month. Let’s see if I can stick to that.

So much for buckling down, but! I’m very happy with it! There’s some adjustments to be made for the actual wearing, but for now this is done.
First big frustration moment: I did scream at one of my rolled hem presser feet before giving up on that kind of hem for the sleeve.

I don’t have room in my docket for more cosplays but this dress is my favorite colors and I’ve been thinking about it since ep3 so maybe when Rurihime and Bettel are done we add Natsuko in her festival gown to the list.

5 skeins and now 10 freakin yards of garter stitch to make a ruffle for a poncho. The saga is over!!!!

I’m back! So I went with these but had to settle for this celestial bc the pattern calls for sporting weight and at the time this was the best I could find and it matches some of the nuis. I love this Hollyberry red though. But I might have to look at hobbii more thoroughly now.

And now we made it a sleeve with an inset box pleat! I’m really pleased my vision is coming together for Bettel’s blouse! I think I could get this piece done this weekend if I buckle down. It’ll really be great if I cleanly line up the pleat w/the shoulder seam. 🥹

I learned how to pattern a sleeve today. Next step is mocking up a version with inset box pleat.
