People have many different scenarios, so we still need various programs. But when it comes specifically to providing food, UBI would definitely do a better job than SNAP. The resources spent on SNAP are inefficiently used and could be directed toward helping more people more effectively.

Food is a basic human need, so SNAP should be replaced by UBI—assuming the UBI amount is reasonable.

Many programs will continue to exist and will become more efficient at helping those who truly need them, but the overall demand for them will decrease as a result of having UBI.

Real cash is obviously better than food-specific cash. The real question is: what level of UBI would you support in order to eliminate SNAP?

SNAP is not food, it’s essentially cash that can only be used to purchase food.
