Nothing special.
That really is astonishing! I thought you must have got the position wrong.

Free Speech is just a smokescreen. It isn't the right to Free Speech she wants but the right to spew Hate Speech.

Lc0 forced a stalemate with 41... Bg2+ 42.Rxg2 Rc1+ 43.Rxc1 Rd1+ 44.Rxd1 Qf2+ 45.Rxf2 1/2-1/2. Amazing!

1.Qg4+ Kf8 2.Qc8# or 1....Kh7 2.Qg7#

Have you seen this amazing position from a recent Stockfish 17 vs Lc0 match? Black to play.

1. Nxe6+ fxe6 2.Qf6# or 1...Kh8 2.Qf6+ Rg7 3.Q×g7# or 1... Kg6 2.Qf6#

1.Kh2 with the threat of Ng2#. If 1...Be4 to stop this threat, 2.f3 and ...Bxf3 is met with 3.Nf5#

1.Nd6+ Kd5 2.Qf3+ wins the queen.

1. Nh5+ Two variations depending on the King's move:
1... Kh8 2.Qf6+ Kg8 3.Qg7# but the prettier one involves the Bishop on c2
1. ...Kg8 2.Qh6 g×h5 3.Qxh7#

1.Qxf4# The pawn on g5 is pinned.

It might have been "White to play and mate in two" when originally published. I don't think I would have ever have got the solution under those conditions!

1.Kg1 is the only legal move, do I win the prize? Take away the black pawn on c3 and then 1.c3 frees the Bishop from his prison followed by Bd3 and Bxb5 should be winning but as it is it looks to be a draw.

Yes! 1.Qe1+ Ne2 2.Qxe2 Ne3+ 3.Rxe3+ fxe3 4.Qxe3#
However I fed this to the engine who found 1.Ke1 Qxc2 2.Bc6+ Nxc6 3.Qxc2# There are other interesting variations well worth a look. Thanks for the position!

I've just noticed this line fails to 2...Qxc6. Sorry!
September 6, 2024 at 12:23 PM
1.Qxd4+ c×d4 2. Bc6+ Rd5 3.Bxd5++
September 5, 2024 at 7:53 PM
1. R5c4 double check and mate.
September 5, 2024 at 12:35 PM
1....Qxf3+ 2.Qxf3 Rxe2+ 3.Kf1 Bxf3

Can I ask, are these positions taken from your own games? They don't seem to be composed puzzles. I like them more for that reason.

Well, I would castle.

1.Ra6 pins the N on c6 and if either rook goes to c8 to protect it 2.Qa4 wins. Good night, good Knight!
August 27, 2024 at 7:18 AM
1...Qe1+ 2.Qf1 Bd4+ 3.Kh1 or h2 Qh4++
