A shared motif, reimagined through three distinct color palettes.
Slip and underglaze detailing emphasize form and surface, inviting subtle variations in tone and texture. Each pitcher is individually hand-built and finished to celebrate the tactile beauty of clay.

Getting the brushstrokes to not looked over worked or forced can be challenging. Going at it with a confident hand, embracing spontaneity, AND practice really helps me get the look I’m trying to achieve ( or at least closer each time).

Sneak peak at a few Yunomi ( Japanese tea bowls) that I will have on display @shoppesatthornebrook for their Spring festival next weekend March 1st & 2nd. Looking forward to seeing some of these colors in my garden soon as spring arrives.

Work in progress..Decorating/glazing a larger platter this afternoon with a familiar pattern. One of my favorite parts of the process. My forms are generally simple and this step really makes the surface come alive. I have a rough idea of how a pattern will look, but I invite spontaneity.

Testing out a new strontium matte glaze next to a familiar golden ash glaze. I really like the surface interest and how smooth the matte glaze is. The ash glaze could perform a little better. Keep on testing..

Work in progress II. Finishing up the surface embellishments on the ewer I posted last week. I’ve been working on this piece here and there for 10-15 mins at a time for the last couple of months. I’ve enjoyed having something I can work on when I don’t have a lot of time in the studio or when my reg
