This pub uses Gen AI for its kids menu. I'm not sure if they are disrespecting anyone's intellectual creation in doing so. It's simply late stage capitalism. We'll need to find other ways to express ourselves.

Today, Philipp Fabritius taught his first tutorials (3x90 mins) on Creative Coding && submitted his second conference paper for Mensch und Computer since starting in my professorship. Welcome to 🔥🔥🔥. We 🫶 you too.

Looking forward to our Tech:Know workshop tomorrow. Meeting of sociologists, cognitive scientists, computer scientists,... to workshop ideas on how human knowledge influences the implementation of technology and how technology constrains our knowledge conceptions.

I don't want to alarm anyone, but US Americans are now officially more unhappy than Germans.

10 stars means I get to watch a choral concert; 90 stars, a police drama.

There are many aspects of this that concerns me. I'm not sure where to begin...

Today, my 4 yr old made me a star chart.

Learning over lunch of a potential bug in the libraries that you used to analyze your data, which you are already writing up. #RIPLynch #phdlife

I don't understand the need to compare things on single dimensions. But if we must, then yes; I agree.

No wait, I don't... But yes, I see it now, now wait a minute...

Cracking open my Christmas gift but Laura Loomer and Elon Musk keep distracting me... 😔

This is my best attempt via ChatGPT. I had to provide clear prompts to remove all references to recognizable objects and to treat the image as hues and luminance.

I realize, somewhat belatedly, that ChatGPT is incapable of interpreting & transforming images without the recourse of text prompts. Duh... I've been wasting my time, trying to persuade it to create an abstraction of the following image comprising circles and squares. #fail

I tripped over the lettering that my child's elf had left her, which resulted in loud shouts of protest.

"No problem, I'll just rearrange it like how Freya did it.". "But it won't be her work!".

So, what do we not get about generative AI that my child does?

This is one of my prized possession. A photo with my hero, Mike Posner, at Neuroergonomics 2018. He informed me that he had always been interested in human factors &, in fact, did his PhD with Paul Fitts. 🤯 1/n

Oh... The project... Something about using AR to make the local Jewish historical sites visible to locals who actually believe that Chemnitz is a pure German 🇩🇪 city. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I might share details tomorrow

Today, we have a Projektabschlussveranstaltung aka end of project event. There were genuine tears at the end, between colleagues who recognized a battle well fought and a job well done. I could not have been prouder.

Das ist so ein völliges #NichtProblem. Das Einzige, was ich bei #tuchemnitz noch mehr schätze als unsere Allgender-Toiletten, sind die Windelstationen in den Männertoiletten.

Today, I was reminded of this paper that I read during my PhD. "It takes two neurons to ride a bicycle" (Matthew Cook, 2004).

Image shows 800 simulations of an unsteered bicycle being pushed to the right. Note: humans learn "worse" than the 2-neuron network.
