Yes, you could sell the Switch 2 Edition upgrade code online but you have to go through the effort of doing that to get the price back down to what it was originally. You’re probably better off buying a new or used copy now and then the upgrade DLC from a retailer other than Nintendo at that point.

So if original Switch owners want to buy a new physical copy of something like Kirby and the Forgotten Land and the original Switch copies are sold out, their only option will be the more expensive Switch 2 Edition with a useless code in the box if they have no intention of playing it on a Switch 2.
