One of his first symbolic acts was restoring the name Mount McKinley, over the objections of the state and Indigenous leaders. It’s fitting that William McKinley’s legacy supplants local sovereignty because that’s exactly what McKinley did in life.

That theory would not survive judicial scrutiny. Misapplying the FACE Act this way risks making it unenforceable in future cases. If the Justice Department truly cared about religious freedom, it would not stretch the law beyond its text and intent.

A journalist being physically present to document alleged violations of law does not make them complicit in those violations. Selectively targeting one reporter where others were present raises serious First Amendment concerns.
