speak for yourself! i will admit it’s a little odd in this context, because it’s primarily from Black culture and, as someone else pointed out in this thread, mostly known for being used by spike lee (“a spike lee joint”) but it’s not wholly uncommon.

I get it, I really do. all i’m saying is that i don’t think the ghoulish smugness is reflective of people in my community. and I think responding with a lack of empathy feeds an ugly cycle.

Just trying express the importance of empathy. I understand feeling like you want to rub it in your opponents’ face especially if some have been cruel in the past, but i’d encourage you to remember that many of the M’s fans who read what you post online aren’t part of the most vocal that you dislike

there is no obelisk here. do i, as an M’s fan who didn’t mock either of springer’s injuries, deserve this sadness? no. one does. that’s just baseball. and that’s why being a gracious winner is so important in baseball.

there’s another generalization, though: “100% of safeco”? how did you measure that, exactly? especially considering some allege the boos came from toronto fans (many of whome come from vancouver to watch in seattle)? you’re absolutely generalizing and saying everyone deserves it for some mean fans.
