I hadn't put it in this context before, but as I look more and more at the possibility of going completely offline one day, it suddenly occurs to me that this might be the only way to avoid ever hearing about any Kardashian ever again.

Our Samsung washer and dryer, also new, went in the trash after 3 years, replaced with Speed Queen.

(Oh, the sump is working now!)

We've been saving up for the first floor, so a Bosch or a Miele doesn't seem extravagant right now.

This was the first time we bought all new appliances. The fridge needed a new fan a few years back. Already replaced the circuit board on the dishwasher. Microwave needed a new board, replaced the whole thing instead. All GE, we were spending on the building, not the extras.

I'm back to thinking it's the sump - maybe it's completely dead now - and hopeful that the GE store has a decent return policy for that sensor I just ordered.

In our last house, the dishwasher had an internal fuse that seemed to blow once a year. This required taking the facade off to replace.

Why on earth should I know what a sump and a turbidity sensor are?

Can I just go back to having timer knobs for every appliance? You don't need to check the water clarity every minute like this, Mr Dishwasher.

The $140 sump assembly that was acting up decided to function this morning, despite repeated failure yesterday. But the turbidity sensor that I removed and inspected is tweaking out. That's $36 shipped.
I could replace this GE with something very nice for about $1400!
But I won't give up this fight.

This is where being a musician can be helpful. Today I'm complaining because I tried to diagnose the problem. I think I broke something along the way. It's like trying to learn a drum fill and your cymbal cracks. You can quit, I guess. Or you buckle down & keep putting in the work until it's right.

It seems like a solution looking for a problem. That it was done without board approval seems daring. I still think the PhArt Museum is world class, but this seemed like much ago about nothing, and rolling it back will only cost even more money - not great.
