I'd say donations would be the best way, in theory.
The problem is: online discussions get so tribal. It's the way social media has trained us. I try to see different views as long as a person's rights are safe (UK here so not guns). It's the only way to keep myself learning. I wouldn't be as accepting a person as I am now if I didn't.
