THEY LET ME LETTER BILLY BAT

Opinions are mine alone
Like, I didn't think Funimation's dub was terrible or anything, but to me the whole film felt different because of it. It didn't feel like a totally suitable substitute for someone who may not be able to watch it in Japanese with subtitles. Also hated how they pronounced Gojira, haha.

Wow, surprised there's a new dub.
Honestly I wasn't really a fan of Funimation's dub. It came across way too detached from the physical performances and the script and types of voices they were doing didn't come across very natural. NYAV's dub seems much more promising in all aspects.

I don't think Asmongold's living conditions would really become any worse on the streets tbh

Please don't post this kind of language. I just imagined in my brain that several of those words are different words and it's actually very fucked up

Like, I think most viewers would be okay with subtitles not always being super crisp for the sake of the convenience of watching on something other than a PC. Or at least they could provide text-based subs as an alternative. This just doesn't seem like the best thing for viewers

Could they not get image-based subtitles to work on lower-end devices instead of re-encoding? I can understand ASS not working on like an iPhone or a smart TV but something similar to PGS or VOB maybe? At the very least they could get sign subs at the top of the frame if it must be text-based.

This isn't to say shooting a dude in the neck is a good thing, but the amount of people now turning around like "Nooo that is SO uncalled for and we should show some empathy!" like the dude wasn't celebrating and trying to justify the murder of the marginalized regularly is dumb as shit.

All that's doing is wasting the precious time you could have known them more, could have showed that you actually cared as much as you felt. Matt was a fantastic person. Don't take fantastic people you know for granted. You don't know when it will be too late.

and then try and chat with him again. Sorry for rambling about this. If you ever want to talk to someone, if you care about someone, just do it. Don't hold yourself back because you feel like you don't deserve to talk to your friend, or because you worry you're going to take away from their time.

I wish I'd gotten over those feelings, could more easily accept that when he said there were no hard feelings then that means I shouldn't hold myself to my mistakes so much. When he posted about his hospitalization, he seemed certain things would pass. I told myself I'll let him recover first

It's been two or three years since I last talked to him, because I felt bad about how I fumbled a project on him, and he always seemed so busy. He didn't hold anything against me, he said he'd like to work with me again. I kept thinking "I'll message him again soon" and forgot how long it'd been.

I think it's fair to say most people who got into the English manga industry in the last decade can say Matt was a part of their journey, that they wouldn't be quite where they are now without his influence, even if they only encountered him briefly.

You'd be hard pressed to find anyone Matt didn't impact, even if indirectly. Everyone knew Matt, and if you didn't you knew at least ten people that did, and he was a big part of many people getting where they are now.
