When Tier 1 is the engine driving everything:
Achievement increases
Misbehaviors decline
Learning happen

Stop throwing money, programs, interventions & the kitchen sink at Tiers 2 & 3.

Tier 1 is where our work is & the problems get solved.
It requires intentional design.

Scaffolds are meant to be TEMPORARY.

Otherwise, we'd still be looking at the Statue of Liberty like this...

It's no different for learning.

-Support & safety focused
-Can be modified or moved
-Meant to be temporary

No different than the scaffolds we put in place for the learners in our rooms.

Teaching vs Learning

One produces cooks who heat up the dishes given to them.

The other trains up chefs who become masters at inventing culinary creations.

One is status quo.
The other gets us the improvement we've been chasing.

A chillier environment for some of our kids can be a classroom with:
Little trust
Little care
Little belonging

No amount of scarves or overcoats changes that.

The adults in the school can & should.

Let's stop using the word, "mistake" whenever kids get things wrong.

Call them what they really are: Discoveries!

Imagine what could happen if we sought out & celebrated these "discoveries" during learning instead of harping on mistakes.

There's magic in mistakes!
