Cyclist. Runner. Swims?? Considerate to others. Trying to minimise impact on environment. Passionate about safety for pedestrians and cyclists. Air-breather
I’m often found outside at 23:55 trying to get my last miles of the day in.
No roll-overing. It’s a slippery slope

Hopefully the insurance companies will take a stricter view, and not grant such offenders the privilege of insurance cover anyway.

“Please can I have the details of any previous collisions or claims?”

“Er, well I did have just the one previous claim….have you got a pen ready?”
December 17, 2025 at 8:37 AM
Yes called Intelligent Speed Assist in Europe.

But not mandatory to be used (ie it can be overridden at driver’s prerogative)
That’s progress if insurance companies insist it be used - presumably if one crashes with it switched off, one’s own damages are not compensated due to one’s recklessness

Good

Be human beings without needing other human beings to first have to block or boycott your products, to make you be fair to all other human beings

“I simply did not have time to avoid the collisions or take sufficient evasive action."

= “I was driving too fast for the road layout and did not have time to avoid the collisions or take sufficient evasive action."
December 7, 2025 at 11:23 AM
Taking it that you mean that the speed limiters are mandatory to be installed and operating, and with no override
December 7, 2025 at 10:48 AM
Do you know what they are trying to prevent
December 7, 2025 at 10:45 AM
Yes understand

My point was maybe gun battles shouldn’t be going on anyway, rather than programming AVs to avoid driving through urban warfare zones
December 5, 2025 at 5:29 PM
www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2024/1...

User-in-charge not liable for manner of driving

(1)An individual does not commit an offence arising from the way in which a vehicle is driven if subsection (2) or (3) applies
Automated Vehicles Act 2024

Btw - I don’t think gun battles are particularly an AV-focussed issue. They’re probably a negative for property prices and neighbourhood ambience in general

Rule 140

Cycle lanes….You MUST NOT drive or park in a cycle lane marked by a solid white line during its times of operation. Do not drive or park in a cycle lane marked by a broken white line unless it is unavoidable. You MUST NOT park in any cycle lane whilst waiting restrictions apply.
December 5, 2025 at 2:52 PM
…be refined eg to drive slower and slower until no one is killed.
Or to start off slow, until we find the humanly “acceptable” trade-off between travel time versus deaths
December 5, 2025 at 9:02 AM
AVs will undoubtedly kill many people. And, unlike with human drivers, there won’t be variability in that killing. It will be clinical.
However does that make the killing worse - if far, far fewer people are killed but those who are killed were pre-programmed to be. At least the programming can….
December 5, 2025 at 8:59 AM
It hasn’t killed appalling manual driving.

Presumably risk (and premium) from an incompetent driver will be higher in a manually driven car than in an AV.
So we might see incompetent drivers having to buy AVs, and competent drivers sticking with manually driven cars. Increases average road safety
December 5, 2025 at 8:39 AM
Agreed. But their not being even permitted to break the speed limit is a good setting out of the stall. If they are able to break the speed limit there is no hope at all.
December 5, 2025 at 8:35 AM
What’s going to happen with AVs?
Presumably the government is not going to let them autonomously decide to break speed limits. Presumably no government would survive allowing robots to kill people by speeding
If they can, and will, speed-limit AVs - then surely they can, and should, speed-limit EVs

Try to get a dopamine boost from being environmentally conscious, by keeping your possessions going as long as possible.
You do know the whole marketing deception is precisely to get you continually consuming more and more unnecessary product ?
December 3, 2025 at 9:31 AM
Sounds like they are going to need to check 300k birth certificates of the current members, plus check the birth certificate of every new joiner.

Could just make their organisation inclusive instead - rather than single sex.
December 3, 2025 at 9:28 AM
At this point you probably want to be thinking electric trains and electric trams.
Addiction to the individual personal motor vehicle, brings out all kinds of desperate, unworkable, unviable solutions
December 2, 2025 at 4:30 PM
So, undevelop that.
And then instead do it properly
December 2, 2025 at 4:18 PM
It’s also worth examining why third-party insurance cover was not mandatory for anyone in the entire history of humanity ….. apart from once they started driving motor vehicles
November 30, 2025 at 5:21 PM
A car and a fallen-over-sideways cyclist are about the same width - hence cyclists need similar space to car drivers
November 30, 2025 at 5:18 PM
This isn’t difficult or controversial.

Here is other on-carriageway furniture:

I’d tell people in person, too, not to order a car-delivered sandwich.

Try to wake up to the climate emergency. This normalised waste of energy is the very cause of the crisis that is killing people and is going to make parts of the planet uninhabitable. Use energy wisely
