Yeah, that's also possible. Maybe she was progressive at some point and her views calcified in the late 1990s-early 2000s when she made it big, and now wonders why she doesn't get the praise now she got then.

I don't know that the money corrupted her so much as it enabled her to drop the mask. This is who she always has been. She left breadcrumbs of her views in her books out the gate. Becoming a successful and wealthy author validated them in her mind.
