Gardener. Native plants, mostly. Semi-retired landscape designer and native plant grower. Grandmother. Life-long North Carolinian from way back disgusted with its political turn.
It's been a while but I'm still smiling after Saturday's #NoKingsDay in small town North Carolina. Waxhaw and Belmont. ❤️🇺🇸❤️

Wandering wonders. Within 10 feet of the house! Eastern Redbud, one of our first native trees to flower. Did you know that its blossoms are edible? Nutritious and tasty, too. The cocoon of the Promethea Moth, I think. One our huge, beautiful, native moths. A little nature break is good for the soul.

Most native plants are dormant at this time of year, so I was delighted to run across these wee blossoms while working in the nursery today. Springbeauty (Claytonia virginica). Not the showiest plant around or the best picture but a welcomed sign of hope. #nativeplants

So, we did get a wee dusting of snow this forecast. Not our dreamed for "big snows come from the south" but something. Brrrr...
