Winter Turning: A Graphic Novel (Wings of Fire Graphic Novel #7) by Tui T. Sutherland (Author), Mike Holmes (Illustrator). I'm loving Winter's character change arc.

Currently, "little" occurs 39 times in the manuscript. It was more, but as I searched for a passage to use for this #WIPSnips, I took out a few. One of my favorite editing steps is looking for overused words and phrases. I'll do more cleanup and rewriting then.

An idea came to me. I tied a rope around my dragon then let him fly up and soar in the breeze overhead. I stood on the ground holding the other end of the rope. He was satisfied with simply riding the wind. The neighbors thought I was flying a kite.

I didn't realize how much my life revolved around Stray Cat Friend until he was gone. I was always ensuring he was safe, fed, and happy. I'd play with him and let him sleep in my lap. And, I constantly watched where I stepped to keep from tripping over him. I miss him.

Stray Cat Friend seemed to be an adult cat when he arrived — he didn't have any kitten playfulness. I have no idea how old he was. I only know how long he let me be his friend. I miss him.

Then, on a snowy winter day, he didn't want to go out. I was looking out at the snow when he came into the room and meowed at me. I knew he wanted me to follow. He led me to the litter box, and then he used it. He needed me to keep him company while he did.

Stray Cat Friend was an outdoor cat. I couldn't make him accept staying inside. I provided a litter box and ensured he knew where it was, but he never used it. He went outdoors to relieve himself.

Before I could do anything, the dragon crouched ready to pounce, and called out, "Halt. Who goes there? Friend or food?"

He had food insecurity trauma. He had been on his own for a while, every day a struggle to survive, every day a desperate search for food to ease ever present hunger. An empty food bowl caused anxiety. Once filled, he was happy. He didn't eat it unless hungry, but he needed to know food was there.

I found "spelled."

"Hope righted the container, cleaned what had spelled, and put the lid on."

Darn typo! That was supposed to be "spilled."

Once again, participating in #WIPSnips has helped me find a typo in my work. Thank you.
