A red-state Democrat. Opinions, although correct, are not those of my employer.
Sadly, my state does not formally recognize Juneteenth.

Trump: It wasn’t my buck.

I’ve already seen the media asking “Will Democrats allow the government to shut down?

The fact it didn't happen shows just how strong Zelensky is.

The speaker not on camera (it sounded female to me). And yes, perhaps I shouldn’t have presumed that person identities as female.

You ever agree with someone and say something you think will be funny, but nobody else thinks it’s funny, and you come off as rude? That’s me right now.

You give him far too much credit.

As a lawyer, I think that’s a good description of my profession.

… using his ignorance against him, it’s like “nails on a chalkboard” to me.

I’d go so far as to say a title can be part of personal identity. I understand her point and I agree with it. I think not using one’s chosen pronouns makes you a royal asshole.

That said, as a former teacher and a current lawyer, I am nothing if not pedantic. So as much as I enjoy her … (1/2)

… like me how stupid they are that they’re annoyed. (2/2)

In certain usage, yes they are. In this case, though, they aren’t taking the place of the noun in the sentence, so they’re not used as pronouns. Ultimately, she proves her point, though.

I’m just sharing a personal annoyance, which is why the internet was invented, along with telling … (1/2)

O it doesn’t matter, ultimately. She effective proved her point. It’s just a personal annoyance, and if there’s one thing the internet is for, it’s for sharing your personal annoyances. (And then telling people they’re stupid for being annoyed.)

A pronoun is a word that takes the place of a noun. “Hey, Mister!” Uses it as a pronoun. “Mister Smith” uses it as an honorific.
February 22, 2025 at 12:13 PM
If I say, “Hey, Mister!” It is a pronoun. If I say “Mister Smith,” it is not. She is using the latter situation.
February 22, 2025 at 12:11 PM
Please forgive the omitted quotation marks after “Mister” in the next to last sentence.
February 22, 2025 at 12:09 PM
Yes, the can be. And maybe the problem is I’m relying on my memory of this clip from several hours ago instead of viewing it again. “Mister is a pronoun in “Hey, Mister!” It is not in “Mr. Chairperson.”
February 22, 2025 at 12:07 PM
I understand the point, and I enjoy his reaction, but as a former teacher, I think I’m more annoyed than “Madam Chairperson.”
February 22, 2025 at 12:05 PM
The woman probably needs to be told that Mr. and Madam, as used here, are not pronouns? (They can be in some situations, but not as she is using them.)
February 22, 2025 at 11:57 AM
I’m definitely not MAGA, but is t it more stupid that shes not even changing pronouns? “Mr.” and “Madam” aren’t pronouns.
February 22, 2025 at 11:55 AM
That’s what annoys me. It’s not compliance at all. She’s not changing pronouns but honorifics.
February 22, 2025 at 11:52 AM
There’s just enough grammarian in me to get annoyed by the fact “Mister” and “Madam” are not pronouns.

I saw one of those videos (without an explanation) and thought the cyber truck owner had rigged up some led display on the back. It makes much more sense that it’s projected by the “hunters.”
