George W. Bush wasn't the only Texan who said he could read a Russian (Soviet) leader by looking into his eyes. Check out this LBJ quote from Robert Caro's biography, The Passage of Power.

@ryannorth.ca Hey was just recommending your book over on Lemmy and think I noticed there's a typo on the "How to Invent Everything" site - I think you wanted "you *can* find out more"?

The phrase was way cooler before I went looking, but a company "Freewater" used to make a sandal called "tall boy". Pics on the Amazon listing match the color scheme in your pic, and the copy is kind of gesturing towards "this looks and feels different" www.amazon.com/Freewaters-M...

I get this could result in countless huge problems, but it's kind of cool that this thing's first response to uncovering dangerous corporate fraud is to notify regulators and the press. (pg 43 of this document: www-cdn.anthropic.com/6be99a52cb68...)

If we want to have any power instead of watching helplessly while the people in charge fuck everything up, we should focus on democratic workplaces. Not just unions, workers should own and control the business.

Reading The Life and Times of Frederick Douglass and an idea he brings up a handful of times is that, perhaps counterintuitively, slaves who fought back and resisted might be punished in the short term, but they weren't whipped as much, because they had extracted a cost from their oppressors.

I don't know either, but reminds me the local grocery store calls energy drinks "new age" as if my grandma was in charge of signage

Check out what appears to be but I assume can't possibly be a porta-potty on wheels, with a door that doesn't even reach the floor, indoors at a major fine art museum during construction work.

I first heard of Eugene Debs from Kurt Vonnegut, who constantly mentioned him. I was thinking about the DebsEbooks twitter today. So many good ones and it was a nice way of propagating his thought. Have you seen anyone doing something similar on bluesky? (This one could maybe do with less gendering)
