Almost three weeks ago it was a winter wonderland in Longmont, Colorado.

A few days ago I slowly approached this great blue heron fishing between the ice at Izaak Walton Nature Area in Longmont, Colorado.

I documented the heron catch three fish right after another. His last catch was this huge rainbow trout.

So amazing!

They primarily eat insect larvae, such as flies and beetles, as well as other invertebrates like snails and worms.
