My father, born in the US and of Japanese descent, was incarcerated the last time this act was invoked. The intention of the act is to respond quickly given a wartime threat. I disagree with how it was used during WWII but is being used now primarily to bypass due process.

There is so much anger in these comments - about both the media source and the story itself. I get it, I cancelled my subscription too. But we have to try and understand people who voted for this in order to change the future. Empathy is hard but we have to try so we can learn from it.
