I write books about the natural world of New York City. For almost 40 years I lived on a houseboat at the 79th Street Boat Basin with my husband and adored cats, dogs, birds and for 18 years beloved son til he flew the coop. I teach botany classes at NYBG.
I’m reading Niall Williams’ This Is Happiness and at his jumped out at me: “Story was the stuff of life, and to realise you were inside one allowed you to sometimes surrender to the plot, to bear a little easier the griefs and sufferings and to enjoy more fully the twists that came along the way.”
