Pax approves. He paces and cries for at least an hour every evening until he gets a little treat. He starts while we're eating dinner, kicking his full food bowl and staring until I cave. I try really hard not to give in until at least 7:30, but he's relentless!

Pax may be napping but he also makes sure I'm not alone while I read story submissions.

Also, quick shout out to Apex's social media rockstar Ori for coming up with this incredible graphic! As we get closer to our funding goal, the little cow will get closer to the spaceship and being abducted!!! How freaking adorable! 😍

Oz: Thank you for joining me today.
Me: Um ...?
Oz: I've asked you to join me because lately I've noticed that our walks have been subpar.
Me: What?
Oz: Yes. It is a problem.
Me: I ...
Oz: Also, I need more treats. The amount of treats is severely lacking.

Timeline cleanse.

Pax loves shoes. I don't know why, but I find shoes all over our house because he is constantly moving them around.

I don't think of Pax being that much bigger than Oz, but then they sit side by side ...

Post platelet donation selfie. I first donated platelets last Sept. It's taken me nearly a year to feel like I've got a good routine in place so my donations are successful and I feel good during and after. It's been a journey but I'm glad I stuck with it.

Now for my post donation iced coffee!

Pax is being an absolute menace today. He keeps knocking over and stealing my daughter's clean laundry as she folds it. Who doesn't love dog slobber on their socks? Then he came over, punched my laptop, and yoinked out the charging cord.

Took these two fluffy cuties to the park for a nice long walk this morning.

10. Dawn by Octavia E. Butler (honestly, the entire trilogy!). I put off reading this for a long time because sci-fi can be intimidating. I was afraid I wouldn't get it. Then I started Dawn, and devoured the entire series in less than the week. It is SO good! Hmmm ... may be time for a reread.

9. The Year of the Witching by Alexis Henderson. Historical horror is my jam and this book is stunning. And just look at that cover! Gorgeous!

I haven't read Henderson's followup book yet, but I own it and need to get to it soon.

8. Heavy by Kiese Laymon. I read a lot of memoirs and this one is my all time favorite. Highly recommend!

7. Tender is the Flesh by Agustina Bazterrica. This entire book is horrifying and brutal, and I loved every second!

6. A Wizard's Guide to Defensive Baking by @tkingfisher.com. This book is so much fun! Honestly, I pretty much love everything T. Kingfisher writes, so if this gets enough likes, more of her books will show up, but this one comes first because it brings me a lot of joy.

5. Far From the Light of Heaven by @tadethompson.bsky.social is a fantastic sci-fi murder mystery! This is a who-done-it set on a generation ship lightyears from anywhere. Should be easy to figure out who is murdering the sleeping passengers. Right?

4. The Day I Die by Anita Hannig. This is a nonfiction book about assisted dying in America and is not an easy read, but it's very well written with several personal accounts in addition to details about the legal aspects. Gave me a lot to think about.

3. Our Wives Under the Sea by Julie Armfield is weird and romantic and heartbreaking. I listened to this in audio and it was amazing!
