Software, trumpets, tiny whoops (mini drones).
I had always sort of assumed Yorkshire pudding was a desert/ish dish until ordering one at a pub recently. Well, imagine my surprise… (I’m twice through the Aubrey/Maturin books, I shoulda known better.)

My style is I pick where the outlets go and she picks the colors. Works for us.

I kind of fell out of the tinkerer role at work and after half a dozen years of never cracking a case, ended up building a PC. I remember being flat out amazed that there was this m.2 drive thingie out there now, and it goes straight on to the motherboard. What will they think of next?

Fallout’s Mothership Zeta DLC wasn’t long but it was a hoot.

I'm old enough to remember 1,000 page "Windows SDK Bible" type books, as well as the several-foot-long mini/mainframe documents on the racks by the line printers.... if only we'd had Stack Overflow back then!

Once screwed up my right shoulder seriously. Used a left mouse for big moves, right mouse w/wrist movement for the fine stuff. Worked (more or less).

Reminding me of the times when my dad was declining he'd be trying to change the channel and I'd look over and see him with the cordless phone in his hand.

My wife put in our wedding vows that I have to keep chocolate in the house.

I had never read it, but after seeing a PBS American Masters show in her (great), I picked up the 50th anniversary edition. Spoiler: the introduction to the 50th ed gives away the core of the plot. So I don’t know how I would have reacted, but…..

Occasionally I'll find a 'bestselling books of 1940' list, and find I am not at all familiar with most of the books, titles, or authors. Sometimes they're easy to find, and when I read them some are great and some.... are not.

Same issue with my 19 Mazda. Which reminds me, I need to write the three buttons I need to press onto a post-it and leave it in the car, because the only thing more sucky than carplay not coming up is having to pull over and scroll through my phone to find my cheat-sheet screenshot.

Me in Italy last year. Oh, look, the cap is stuck to the ring! Oh, and the next bottle too! And the.... hey, waitaminute....

I guess this is less apocalyptic than it could be.

I don't have an answer for you, but I have a memory of me being in an ER with a fresh chest tube in my side a couple of decades ago. My roommate called my parents, my mother answered, my roommate described the situation, and I heard my mother shriek over the phone.... I shoulda told her myself.

Y'know.... maybe I'll do the same. Have it purchased in Steam but never played it for some reason.

+1 on this. Been running it on Win11, a MacBook, and a Linux box for a while. Feels like using Word from a decade ago but it’s perfectly functional.

Listened to that song for the first time as an adult recently and said to myself “Waitaminute, they were dumping trash?”

I recently joined a software team that uses a domain-specific ChatGP engine routinely in their work. Mostly to get a starting place for new modules and documentation, and.... it requires a lot of attention to understand what ChatGP comes up with, but it's not terrible, and that's still weird to me.

Thanks for the article. I discovered the Murderbot audio books about the time my aging parents’ health deteriorated, and they were my companion on many of my late night drives back to my hometown. A pleasure to know more about the author!
