I was conflicted about reading this bc it was published posthumously without Didion’s consent. I’m still not sure she would have wanted it made public. But the “reporting” around alcoholism is incredibly insightful for anyone who grew up with an alcoholic in the family.

I have no plans for a long, satisfying drive but I can dream and hope. In the meantime, I wrote 1.3k words in the early morning and then took a 15-min drive down my favorite stretch of road as a reward. Driving is for me assaying with a car instead of a pen.
